Lying in a remote corner of the Hu Bei province, the Shen Nong Jia reserve is vast and really wild with rugged high mountains and dense forests. It is said to be the last well preserved subtropical forest ecosystem in middle latitude zone in the world.
It may be difficult to enter the core area of the reserve, so hikers are most likely to climb Mt. Lao Jun (~2900M). To start, go to the Mu Yu town first.
The reserve is mystified by historically recorded sightings of the "wild man", a giant hairy creature without a tail who walks like a human being.
