I went hiking in New Zealand to find my previous climbing partner who now lives there. The first place he took me to was Arthur's Pass, simply because it was close to Christchurch where he lives.

It didn't take long for me to realize that hiking in New Zealand hardly needs to carry a tent at all, as huts are very well accessible. It also seemed that ultralight hiking wasn't very popular, and maybe it's not very necessary there.
